A direct response to the complete failing of the U.S. administration to the Covid19 crisis. I hope the viewer feels the direct connection between the death and the people who are dying. I was thinking about paintings by Chaim Soutine and the darker works of Francis Bacon and their paintings of meat. The connection between the meat-packing industry and the overall carnage as well as the ineptitude of the POTUS made the subject matter and style very direct. The title refers to the number of dead in the U.S. on the day I finished the painting.
